The Valley Central school board held a brief meeting September 23.
Brad Conklin, School Business Official, gave the Superintendent’s Report on behalf of Superintendent Evette Avila, who was attending a conference. He reported that the district is conducting a survey on the future of the Walden Elementary School and the superintendent thanked those who had responded to the survey.
Conklin noted that Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated September 15 through October 15 and is an opportunity to celebrate Hispanic history, culture and achievement. He mentioned that the Valley Central Harvest Award Reception will be held October 9 at the Osiris Country Club.
In his business report, Conklin thanked the Montgomery Police Department for “putting to bed” social media threats early in the school year. He said he doesn’t expect such threats to go away anytime soon.
During the public comment segment, Becky Pearson asked about discussions on Walden Elementary School. The board is expected to discuss the school in October.
The board’s next meeting will be October 15.
