Ulster distributes at-home testing kits for students

Posted

Approximately 20,000 COVID-19 antigen testing kits were delivered to Ulster BOCES on New Year’s Day for distribution to the students in Ulster County public schools. Building Maintenance Supervisor Victor DeStefano met the delivery driver on January 1 to receive the shipment, which was later sorted with assistance from District Superintendent Dr. Charles V. Khoury and Building Maintenance Mechanic Albert Bodie. A kit is available for each student in Ulster County public schools. The districts began picking kits up on Monday, January 3. Each school district will communicate distribution plans directly to their families.

“New York State provided this important shipment of test kits in an effort to help minimize in-school spread and support the ability to continue in-person learning amid the latest wave of the omicron strain of the Coronavirus pandemic,” explained Dr. Khoury. “Our superintendents and county health officials are closely monitoring the situation and taking all steps possible to maintain safe environments so we can keep our students in their classrooms.”
