Two weapons recovered after robbery

Posted

On April 25  at approximately 2:20 p.m., City of Newburgh Police Officers were flagged down in the area of Renwick Street and South Clark Street for a robbery. Officers obtained a description of the suspects in  the incident, and a group of males that matched the description was quickly located by responding officers.

When officers attempted to stop the group of males, they immediately ran from the officers on foot. As officers ran after the males, both males were reaching for their waist area and appeared to be grabbing for an object. Officers watched one of the males discard a firearm. Two male suspects were apprehended and two firearms were located, a 9mm Polymer 80 PF940C (an untraceable “ghost gun” with no serial number) and a 9mm Springfield Armory Hellcat.

One of the suspects, a 17-year old juvenile, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. This incident is still under investigation.

Police are looking for any witnesses who may been in the area at the time of this incident. Anyone with any information is asked to call the City of Newburgh Police Department at 845- 569-7509. Callers can remain anonymous.
