The Marlborough Town Board is excited to introduce the “Outstanding Resident of the Year” award, a new honor recognizing residents who make a positive impact in our community.
To nominate a deserving individual, submit a 500-word essay describing someone who exemplifies good character and demonstrates a commitment to helping others. Nominees must be Marlborough residents for at least 10 years and at least 18 years old. Elected officials currently in office are not eligible. The winner will be honored with a plaque in the town boardroom. Submissions are due by November 22, at the Town Clerk’s Office.

November Book Club Meeting
Join us for this month’s Book Club meeting as we discuss Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner. Due to Thanksgiving, the meeting will be held one week early. Copies are available at the circulation desk, and all are welcome. RSVP at marlborolibrary.org, but walk-ins are welcome.
Medicare Consultations
Representatives from the Ulster County Office for the Aging will be at the library on Tuesday, November 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Tuesday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to provide guidance on Medicare options. Appointments are required. Call 845-340-3456 to schedule.
Mindful Gratitude
Meditation Workshop
Prepare for Thanksgiving with a gratitude meditation workshop on Thursday, November 21, at 7 p.m. This program includes a guided meditation and time for discussion. No experience is needed. RSVP at marlborolibrary.org or simply walk in.
Knitting & Crocheting Group
Our knitting and crocheting group now meets Mondays from 1-3 p.m. at the library. Join other crafters on November 25; December 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 to work on projects. No instruction or materials provided. RSVP at marlborolibrary.org; walk-ins are welcome.
Vet2Vet Coffee Hour
The Vet2Vet Coffee Hour, held in partnership with Ulster County Vet2Vet and HVNCVR, meets every Friday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the library’s community room. All veterans are welcome to drop in for a supportive space to connect and chat.

School Board Workshop
The Marlboro Central School District Board of Education will hold a workshop meeting on Thursday, November 7, at 7 p.m. at Marlboro High School.
Project Advance Volunteers
Project Advance students from Marlboro High School teamed up with Habitat for Humanity in Newburgh, spending five hours learning construction skills and making a difference for a local nonprofit. Well done to our dedicated Duke volunteers!
Swimming Success
Congratulations to our Duke swimmers! Gianna Joachim, Sofia Santora, Charlotte Corrado, and Amelia Cummings placed second in the 200m medley relay at the OCIAA Championships, with Sofia qualifying for sectionals. Go Dukes!
Red Ribbon Week at
Marlboro Elementary
Marlboro Elementary celebrated Red Ribbon Week with themed days to support drug-free awareness. Students wore red, celebrated as “All-Stars,” and dressed in bright colors for “Shine Bright” day. Let’s continue supporting a safe, drug-free community!

Winter 2025 Art Exhibit, Call for Artists
Artists are invited to submit work for the library’s Winter Exhibit, themed “The Big Chill.” Interpretations of “chill”—from brisk and wintry to invigorating—are welcome. The exhibit will be displayed from January to May 2025, with submissions due by December 15. Contact the library at 845-795-2200 for details.

Weekly Recipe, Pineapple Cake

Ingredients:
1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple with juice
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 ½ tablespoons butter, in pats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9 pan. Mix all ingredients except butter and cinnamon in a bowl, transfer to the pan, top with butter and cinnamon, and bake for 45 minutes or until golden.
