Ulster County Battalion 4 will be hosting the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association Parade in the hamlet of Wallkill on Saturday, June 18. In anticipation of this momentous occasion, several young artists participated in Vision of Wallkill’s Fireman’s Parade Art Along the Sidewalk Contest. Across from Wallkill Middle School, and just before the Wallkill Fire Department, you will find their artwork expressing gratitude for the brave men and women who put their life on the line for our community. Among them are the top two entries: 1st Place Winner: Trinity T., 4th grade and 2nd Place Winner: Audrey H., 1st grade. Be sure to check out the talent of these young artists.
In collaboration with the Wallkill River School of Art, VOW invites all lay and professional artists and photographers to a Plein Air event at Lippincott Manor on Saturday, July 9 (rain date July 10) from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Choose whatever subject inspires you, whether the captivating views of the Shawangunk Mountains, the Wallkill River or the property’s gardens, and capture it with your canvas or camera. Participating artists agree to donate at least one of their art pieces to VOW for a Silent Auction to be held on Saturday, September 24 during the annual Weekend of Wallkill. For more information about the Plein Air event, contact Adrienne at 845-895-8712 or email@example.com.
With the sunny summer season here, let us also help to brighten the lives of our neighbors in need. Wallkill Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry asks the community for donations in essential items to help bridge the disparity experienced by the numerous individuals and families. In recent weeks, the organization has faced challenges in obtaining supplies and to contend with higher prices. They ask for pantry staples including coffee, mayonnaise, low-salt and original flavored crackers (preferably Ritz, Triscuits, Wheat Thins or store brand), canned corn, string beans, peaches, peas, and men’s hygiene products (deodorant, shaving supplies, shampoo). All donations can be brought to the Food Pantry located behind the Wallkill Reformed Church at 45 Bridge Street in Wallkill. Monetary donations are also welcome and can be mailed to Wallkill Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, PO Box 54, Wallkill NY 12589.
If you would like to share your ideas to further uplift the hamlet community, consider joining Vision of Wallkill and come to our next meeting on Monday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Shawangunk Town Hall. For more information on these and other upcoming events, check VOW’s Facebook page or call/text 845-527-6230.
