Blossom Street Fair returns to the hamlet

On Saturday April 23, the hamlet of Milton was packed with people of all ages celebrating the return of the Blossom Street Fair. The weather was cooperative and the mood was light.

This event was an appreciation of a bygone era in Marlborough, with vendors of all kinds, and crafts and activities for kids scattered up and down Main Street. Along with local businesses promoting their products and services, throughout the day guests were treated to live music from the Marlboro High School and Middle School jazz band, performances from students of Madeline’s Dance Center, and music from The Mount Academy Folk Band, and Mount Academy Brass Band. Hosted by the agricultural organization Meet Me in Marlboro, the theme of this reborn street fair was the “Celebration of a New Agricultural Season.” Vendors and attendees alike, considered this a perfect day to kick off the spring season in the Marlboro/Milton area.

“This is a great way to get the town active and be a part of the community. I really hope we can continue this in the future. It’s also so fantastic for local businesses to get more exposure and get their names out there,” said Lisa Bozydaj, owner of Love’s Flowers.

Nobody at the Blossom Street Fair was going hungry, with plenty of food options available. Such options included The Kitchen Counter, Empanada O’Nada Truck, Benmarl Winery, Locust Grove Brewing Company, and Katie Rose Bakery. Kids also had plenty of activities to keep them busy and happy throughout the day, from facepainting, to crafts, and even a petting zoo with baby farm animals.

An information table was set-up by the Marlborough Historical Society for anyone curious on the history of the area.

“Street fairs like this were the norm back in the old days of Marlborough. It’s great to see such a nice turnout, and there’s definitely a little something for everyone here,” said Marlborough Historical Society President Tom Schroeder.

The Blossom Street Fair ran from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., giving people plenty of time to experience everything it had to offer. Music and dance performances ran throughout the whole day as well, entertaining the whole street while they could explore the booths at their own leisure.

“The fact that all these amazing businesses and organizations are all in one place, really shows how diverse our community is and how much it has to offer. Seeing the success of today, we should make this a yearly tradition again,” said Hannah Truncali, owner of Haven Acupuncture.
