School board resolution to reinstate Padilla fails

A resolution to reinstate Dr. Roberto Padilla as school superintendent did not pass during the regular Newburgh Board of Education meeting on October 12.
Without being mentioned by name, the resolution was brought forth by board member Mark Levinstein towards the end of the meeting. The resolution called for reinstatement of the superintendent effective October 13. Board of Education Vice President Philip Howard seconded the motion.

This motion was added to the agenda for which acting board president, Carole Mineo, called for a role call on the item.

Padilla was suspended back in August with pay, following allegations of inappropriate behavior against a female colleague during a conference in San Diego.
Neither Mineo, nor acting superintendent Ed Forgit responded to requests for comment.

The school board was scheduled to meet in a special session on Tuesday.
