Safe Harbors Gala to honor Rene Campos, Walden Savings Bank

Safe Harbors of the Hudson will host its 16th annual gala celebration Thursday, September 15 at 6 p.m. on Safe Harbors Green, the organization’s half acre park at the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street in the City’s downtown.

Each year, at their annual gala, Safe Harbors presents two Cornerstone of the Community Awards: the Community Champion Award, to an individual who is dedicated to the community through work, volunteerism and/or commitment to service; and the Corporate Good Neighbor Award, to a local business that demonstrates an extraordinary level of commitment to the community they serve.

This year, Safe Harbors will recognize Rene Campos, owner of DMU Music, for his volunteerism and commitment to making Newburgh a stronger and healthier place for everyone, as its Community Champion; and Walden Savings Bank, celebrating 150 years of banking and service in their community, as its Corporate Good Neighbor.

The gala will feature special musical guests Corey Glover and Neil Alexander, catering by Orange Hill Global Bistro and a unique selection of auction items during a live and online auction event.

Safe Harbors of the Hudson is a housing and arts nonprofit with the mission of transforming lives and building community through housing and the arts. The Safe Harbors campus includes the Cornerstone Residence, affordable, supportive housing for 128 single adults, including those who were formerly homeless, veterans, people with physical disabilities and mental health diagnoses, artists in need of affordable live work space and low income working adults.
