Robert J. Thayer Sr. (Bob) a resident of Pine Bush, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024. He was 90.
The son of Robert & Dorothy was born on March 9, 1934, in Suffern, NY. At 19, Bob joined the Army where he served from 1953-1955. He worked at the Ford Motor Company Factory in Mahwah, NJ from 1955 until its closure in 1980. He then worked at Lederle/Pfizer until his retirement in 1999.
Bob married the love of his life, Nancy, in 1970. They spent 60 years together and celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in July. They had an extraordinary life together and created a lifetime of love and memories they shared with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Buckhorn Hunting Club for over 50 years.
Bob is survived by his children: Kimberlee Morley and her husband Edward; John Thayer Sr., Cheryl Ann Brundage and her husband Gary; and his daughter-in-law Lori Thayer; his grandchildren Edward, Michael, Emma, John, Eric, Nicole, Samantha, Allison, Zachary, Tiffany, Sean, Tami, and Phillip; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Bob was predeceased by his daughter Diane Thayer; his son, Robert Thayer Jr.; and his grandson Jason.
Funeral services were offered on Saturday September 14, at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc.. Burial will take place in New Prospect Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
