Newburgh man wanted in September shootout arrested

On December 7, 2021 The United States Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Taskforce located and arrested a Newburgh man who was wanted for his role in a shootout that took place back on September 8th, 2021 at 11:25 a.m.

Lavelle R. Stackhouse, 24 years old, was located hiding out at a house in Marlboro New York.
He was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree a class C-Felony.
Stackhouse was arraigned in Orange County Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail.

On September 8 at 11:25 a.m. City of Newburgh Police responded to the area of 69 William Street for a ShotSpotter notification. Upon their arrival officers located two shooting victims both of whom were Newburgh men. One victim had been shot in the stomach and another had been shot in his leg and arm. During the exchange of gunfire several vehicles were struck.

Police had been actively searching for Stackhouse since the September shooting. Stackhouse is also currently on parole for a previous conviction of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree.
