Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Jarves Evans, a/k/a “J”, 26, of Newburgh, was sentenced to a total of 20 years in state prison and three years post-release supervision following his conviction after a jury trial in Orange County Court of two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.

As proven at trial, in January of 2022, Evans sold a quantity of heroin and fentanyl to a known individual in the City of Port Jervis. Less than a week later, Evans again sold a quantity of crack cocaine to the known individual. A search warrant was executed at an apartment in the City of Port Jervis where Evans was located which resulted in the recovery of narcotics, as well as packaging materials for narcotics and the proceeds of the drug sales.

District Attorney Hoovler thanked the City of Port Jervis Police Department and the Orange County Drug Task Force who conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of Evans.
