On January 1 at approximately 9:41 pm, the City of Newburgh Police Department received a ShotSpotter notification for the area of 45 South Lander Street. ShotSpotter was indicating 7 rounds had been fired.
Officers arriving on scene located a vehicle that had been struck by gun fire several times and were notified that a victim had been transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.
The victim a 28 year-old-male and Newburgh resident was struck at least once in his right arm and is expected to survive.
The City of Newburgh police are investigating this incident along with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Police are looking for any witnesses who may been in the area at the time of this incident. Anyone with any information is asked to call the City of Newburgh Police Department at 845-569-7509.
