The Marlboro School Board unanimously approved Jenna Thomas as the Principal of the Elementary School at their last meeting. Her probationary period listed in the agenda began on August 19 and will run through August 19, 2026, with a salary of $130,000. She replaces Patricia Walsh who departed at the end of the last academic year.

Thomas has certifications as a school district leader, a school building leader, holds a Masters Degree in Literacy, a Bachelors Degree in Social Studies Adolescent Education and has experience as a teacher, an Assistant Principal in another district and in the Marlboro School District.

Thomas took a few moments to thank the school administration, the school board, the public and the Marlboro Elementary school family on her appointment, saying, “they have all made me feel at home in this new leadership position.” She also thanked her parents and a special thank you to her husband Keith, “for making it possible for me to pursue my dreams as a strong working mom of three, Gianna, Jackson and Grace, the Marlboro Class of 2034, 2036 and 2038, my biggest cheerleaders of all, I love you.”

Thomas said being appointed Principal, “is a great example of dreaming, believing and becoming. One of my personal goals as Principal will be to encourage students, families and personnel to reach and recognize their full potential. I plan to model love and teamwork, which will lead us to success.”

Thomas shared some advice she received from third grade students on her new journey as principal.

“A great principal is the boss but not bossy; a great principal does great morning announcements and keeps us safe at all times; a super Principal is nice and firm, a good Principal gives good reminders and advice, a good principal gives second chances and what makes a good principal is when they are protecting you and that’s why we do fire drills.”

Thomas closed by thanking the school board “for this incredible opportunity to serve my community that I live in and love so dearly that is so close to my heart. Marlboro Elementary School [is] a school of learning and love; we are Dukes. Thank you.”
