I was impressed by NY State Senator Michelle Hinchey at the Marlborough Democratic Committee meeting on Wednesday, August 3. She spoke to constituents about helping veterans, consumers and farmers, and fighting to protect reproductive rights.
NY State Senate Bill S7526, which she is sponsoring, will establish the Veterans’ Services Law and the Department Of Veterans’ Services to help those who served to get easier access to the needed resources. According to details of the bill, only an estimated 17 percent of the veterans’ population is currently accessing their earned benefits.
The State Senator, Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan, and Assemblymember Kevin Cahill called upon the Public Service Commission to take action against Central Hudson to protect consumers while investigating the utility’s billing practices. She is working on legislation that will end the practice of estimated billing.
Senator Hinchey brings energy, intelligence, and the perspective of a Hudson Valley native to Albany. She fights to help the people of Marlborough and her district. Re-electing her is the right choice.
