Masterson Lake is ready to open

City Manager Todd Venning announced that Masterson Lake is set to open on June 18 and will be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Masterson Lake Park, also known as Frank Masterson Memorial Recreation Area, is located at 660 Little Britain Road in New Windsor.

Masterson Lake Park was closed for infrastructure repair and maintenance by the city water department back in 2016. With the work now completed, the city departments are in the process of preparing the park for the public.

The park offers recreational fishing for the public but it is catch and release only. This is mainly due to the proximity of Washington Lake, which was contaminated by PFAS. Proper signage will be posted for residents and recreational fishers to be aware of the catch and release requirements for the park. A fishing derby is also anticipated to come soon for the public according to Venning.
