At their last meeting the Marlboro School Board honored three Junior High School students, Gabriella Cortes, Deni Menendez, and Harrison Solomon who received National Student Development Council Awards for Academic Growth and Student Leadership in Learning.
Superintendent Michael Rydell said these students are receiving very special and noteworthy awards.
“The ideals that makeup this title speaks volumes about what the award represents and that is two of the main areas of focus of one’s High School experience and their preparation for careers in post secondary pursuits and that’s the concept of leadership, or in other words, one’s character and their social impact as well as academic success.”
Rydell said specific criteria outlines what each student has achieved.
“This award is for a student who is consistently pursuing high academic achievement. Equally important is that they serve as a positive role model for the student body and finally they exemplify admirable character and accomplishment,” he said.
Rydell said this award represents a student, “who is well rounded, talented, dedicated, a positive force in our school community and that all adds up to an individual who is destined for success in all they pursue.” He added that these three students are, “highly accomplished in the academic arena, are leaders in many ways, are involved in extracurricular activities and each have made a great contribution to our school and our district. This evening we have the formal recognition of the students who are receiving this award.”
