The Marlboro Central Boys Basketball team endured a challenging week, suffering two losses that highlighted the team’s struggles to find consistency early in the season.

On Friday, Jan. 10, the Dukes (2-5) were overwhelmed by a dominant New Paltz team, falling 82-45.

Just three days earlier, Marlboro’s momentum from an 84-23 win against Highland was derailed by a 69-50 loss to Red Hook on Jan. 7. The Raiders, who had not forgotten their February 2024 defeat at Marlboro’s hands, avenged the loss with a strong performance. Marlboro kept the game close in the first half but faltered as Red Hook pulled away with efficient scoring and tough defense. The loss extended the Dukes’ road losing streak to four games, dating back to last season.
The Dukes were scheduled to host Spackenkill on Tuesday and Red Hook on Friday, providing opportunities to reset and refocus on home court.
