Marlboro bounces back with dominant win

After a tough loss to Pine Bush earlier in the week, the Marlboro Central girls basketball team rebounded in emphatic fashion on Friday, cruising to a 66-25 victory over New Paltz.

Nalyah Campbell led the Dukes with 16 points, while Isabella Seager chipped in 15, showcasing a balanced offensive attack that overwhelmed the Huguenots. The win marked Marlboro’s fourth victory this season by 20 points or more, solidifying their reputation for decisive play when they find their rhythm.

The Dukes have now won three of their last four games, evening their record at 4-4. Over that span, they’ve dominated opponents by an average margin of 29.3 points per game. Friday’s win was especially sweet after Tuesday’s 58-36 loss to Pine Bush, where Campbell and Gabby Murphy scored 10 and 9 points, respectively, but the team struggled to match Pine Bush’s intensity.

New Paltz (4-6) continued its road woes, extending a losing streak away from home to six games dating back to last season.

Marlboro had opportunity to build on their momentum with a rematch against New Paltz on Monday as they look to establish consistency in the middle of their season.
