Local history trivia night continues at the library

Are you a local history buff or want to learn more about your town? Do you like testing your knowledge against a set of interesting and sometimes obscure questions? From the comfort of your own home, make new friends or reunite with old ones, and test your knowledge of Marlborough in this relaxed, virtual environment.  Local History Trivia Night will be held on Thursday July 15 & 29. Participate individually or make it a fun evening for your whole household. Registration required. Register online at marlborolibrary.org.

All are welcome to attend our Book Club! On Wednesday, July 21 at 7 p.m. we will be discussing The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline.

Weather permitting, Book Club will meet outside in the Library’s Reading Garden (access through interior of building). Masks are required. In the event of inclement weather, registrants will be notified, and the meeting will take place virtually. If you are not comfortable meeting in-person, please email Lindsay at ljankovitz@marlborolibrary.org and she will set you up on Zoom.

Copies have been ordered and are available for pick-up. Registration is required.  Register online at marlborolibrary.org.

Let us get reading and outdoors this summer, Marlborough! Complete a list of challenges on our summer reading game board to be entered into a raffle to win a gift certificate to a local business! Starting now, download a game board at marlborolibrary.org or pick one up at the circulation desk. Completed challenges can be dropped off at the library or send a photo to staff@marlborolibrary.org, by August 31.

BBQ Chicken & Ribs Spectacular!

Art from the Heart Gallery Event
Art from the Heart gallery will host a free music event on July 10, 6-8 pm, Angela Bruno will be performing, singing songs in Spanish, Italian and English.

This time there will be an Ice Cream Truck for all who wish to indulge!

Bring yourself and a chair! At Art from the Heart, 40 western Ave, Marlboro.

St. Mary’s Events

Mobile Bus for Ulster Count DMV Is Back!
Good news! Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack has announced the mobile bus for UCDMV will be returning to Marlborough, at the Town Highway Department parking lot, on Mondays, starting July 12. They will be open 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. & 2 - 3:30 p.m. No appointment necessary!

Weekly Recipe
Summer Corn Salad Recipe

4 ounces halloumi
3 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 heaping cups sweet corn 3 to 4 cobs of corn
2 tablespoons thinly sliced chives
1 tablespoon minced cilantro
salt and pepper to taste.
zest of 1 lime optional

INSTRUCTIONS
Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once skillet is hot, add halloumi and sear on each side for 2 to 3 minutes, or until browned. Remove from heat and cube into bite sized pieces.

Lower heat to medium heat and add butter. Allow butter to melt and toast until lightly browned, 4 to 5 minutes. Add corn and toss together. Sauté for 1 to 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Remove from heat and stir in chives and cilantro.

Fold in cubed halloumi. Finish with fresh lime zest, if using. Serve warm or room temperature.
