Wallkill residents will now have the opportunity to witness the local school board on their tablet or smartphone. The live streaming of Wallkill School Board meetings will begin on January 19.

“We have a board that listens, we have a board that is students first and we also have a board that recognizes anytime we implement any initiative, there’s a process involved,” Wallkill Superintendent of Schools Kevin Castle said at last week’s meeting. “It is what we have to do to ensure whatever we’re choosing to implement that we looked at all avenues. Our board did that and they made a great decision.”

Wallkill parents Janice Vincenzo, Kathy Harrington and Tarie Lewis continuously reached out to the board to address the live streaming so as to allow parents the ability to become more involved with their children and their district. They and several other parents at the meeting thanked the board for the decision and continuing their support of the families in the district.

“I am very happy that the board heard the public concern and is going to livestream and record the meetings,” Vincenzo said. “I think that this is a great step forward, and I am very pleased and I thank the board.” “I’m glad that the board of education has listened to the parents and taxpayers of the district,” Harrington said.
