Lions to present a Seniors Thanksgiving Luncheon

The Marlboro-Milton Lions Club, sponsored by the Town of Marlborough, will host a Thanksgiving luncheon for seniors on Tuesday, November 26. The meal will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and pumpkin or apple pie. The luncheon for members of the Marlborough Seniors group begins at 12 p.m. at the new Town of Marlborough Community Center. To reserve a meal, contact President Annette at 929-459-3292 or sign up at the meeting. For other Marlborough seniors, pickup and delivery are available, but pre-order is required by calling Pete Yeaple at 845-236-4653 or Pete Lyons at 845-795-2197. Please provide your name, address, phone number, number of meals, and if you prefer pickup or delivery. Pickup will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Community Center. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, November 21.
 
Marlborough Holiday Market
 
Meet Me in Marlborough’s Buy Local Holiday Extravaganza and Thanksgiving Farmers Market is Saturday, November 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Marlboro Elementary School, Route 9W. The event will feature local artisan markets, food, desserts, crafts, kids’ activities, civic group fundraisers, a holiday farm tractor photo opportunity, and Santa.

Marlboro High School Drama Club
The Marlboro High School Drama Club presents “Charlotte’s Web,” a classic story of friendship and bravery based on the beloved book by E.B. White. Performances are Friday, November 15, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, November 16, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, November 17, at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at bit.ly/3YykbZ5.
 
Middle School Health Workshop
Thank you to EMT Sandy Wilson for leading a Health Occupations workshop for Marlboro Middle School students. Wilson demonstrated special effects makeup to create realistic “wounds,” showing students how EMTs train for emergencies.
 
Power-Up Night
 
The Marlboro Middle School’s annual Power-Up Night on October 30 featured workshops for parents on topics like mental health, social media safety, and vaping awareness, while students enjoyed pizza, bingo, and career-focused workshops.

Drama Club Fundraiser
 
The Marlboro Middle School Drama Club will host a fundraising breakfast at Applebee’s, 3450 North Road, Poughkeepsie, on Sunday, November 10, from 8 to 10 a.m. Tickets are $8 per person and available at marlmsdramaclub.booktix.com. Proceeds will support the club’s upcoming season, including “The Lion King Jr.”

Recipe of the Week: 
Creamy Potatoes & Peas
2 lbs red potatoes, ¼ cup butter, 3 Tbsp. flour, 1 ½ tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. pepper, 1 ½ cups milk, 1 cup evaporated milk, 10 oz. frozen peas, ½ cup onion, diced, 4 slices bacon, crumbled.
 Preheat oven to 325°F. Boil potatoes until tender; halve and place in a greased baking dish.
 Sprinkle peas over potatoes.
 In a saucepan, melt butter, stir in flour, salt, and pepper, and cook for 2 minutes. Gradually add milk and evaporated milk, stirring until thickened.
 Pour sauce over potatoes and peas, top with bacon, and bake for 20-25 minutes.
