Ida Countryman-Sutton, 68, a longtime resident of Highland passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer with her family by her side.

Born on February 24,1956 in Amsterdam, NY. Ida graduated from Highland High School.

Ida worked at Countess Mara, a tie factory in Highland and was a caregiver for many years after. A member of New Paltz ELKS, she served as a chaplain and was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of New Paltz. She recently attended and became a member of the Christian Church of Charleston Four Corners, in Sprakers, NY, where she met and was very fond of Pastor Brett Popp.

Ida had a passionate desire for all things Kirks Folly. If it had glitter and sparkle you could find it in her home, on her and on anyone that came in contact with her. Some of her other passions were camping, Walmart shopping trips when her husband was away, and also going out to dinner with family and friends. She had a special love for her past and present “fur babies” along with all those belonging to others.

Ida is survived by her husband of 49 yrs, Willard Sutton of Highland, NY. Two daughters Tiffany Sutton of Clintondale, NY and Amanda Sutton of Gardiner, NY. Four grandchildren Zachary Dortono, Gianna Kelley, Devin Hunt, and Olivia Pillius. One sister Pamela Countryman of Clintondale, NY, two brothers Brian Countryman and wife Christine of Walden, NY and Terry Fralick and wife Phyllis of Florida. She also had a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Ida was predeceased by her father Crawford Countryman and his wife Pearl along with her mother Dorothy Sears.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, October 16, from 4-8 pm, at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 38 Main St. Highland.

Graveside service and burial will take place on Saturday, October 19th, 1: pm,  at Highland Cemetery, 199 Vineyard Ave., Highland.
