Hudson Valley Hospice to host ‘Lights Across the Hudson’

The Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation will host its annual Lights Across the Hudson luminary tribute on Friday, May 9, inviting the community to gather in remembrance of loved ones lost.

The event will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on the Walkway Over the Hudson, where thousands of glowing luminaries will light the path across the span, each symbolizing a life remembered.

Organizers describe the evening as a moving celebration of life and healing. The event will feature inspirational readings and live music provided by Hudson Valley Voices in Harmony, the Mid Hudson Chapter of the Threshold Choir, and Mary Doherty, a licensed massage therapist and Hudson Valley Hospice team lead for Dutchess County, who is also known locally for her musical performances.

Spiritual leaders from various faith traditions will share messages of hope, remembrance and unity. Attendees will also be able to enjoy food and refreshments from local food trucks on-site.

“This is a serene and supportive environment where people can come together to reflect, connect and honor those they’ve lost,” the foundation said in a statement. “Everyone is welcome.”

The event is free and open to the public. Luminaries can be dedicated in advance as part of the tribute. For more information, visit hvhospice.org.
