oin park educators on this approximately five-mile hike to search for migrating raptors. We will hike on Lake Minnewaska and Millbrook Mountain Carriage Roads to reach Millbrook Mountain, a scenic vista that is a great vantage point from which to watch migrating raptors over the Wallkill Valley. Before beginning the hike, we will talk about raptor migration and how the Shawangunk Mountains are an important migration route for raptors and other birds. Once there, we will sit and watch for migrating raptors. If the conditions are right, we will see plenty of moving birds. This program is suggested for children between the ages of eight to fourteen, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18. All participants should come prepared with proper hiking shoes and plenty of water and food. This program may be switched to September 17, if weather conditions warrant a change. All unvaccinated participants are encouraged to wear face coverings and keep a minimum six-foot distance away from others who are not part of their immediate household. Additionally, all unvaccinated visitors should wear a mask when inside buildings. Meet at the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center. Pre-registration is required by calling Minnewaska at 845-255-0752.
