The Board of Education of the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District approved the tax levy for the 2024-2025 school year at its meeting on August 29.
In total, $11,688,233 will be collected in taxes from Highland Falls and Fort Montgomery property owners.
The tax rate will be $22.46841. That means that for every $1000 of assessed valuation of your property, you’ll pay $22.46 in school taxes.
The rate reflects an increase of 1.49%, or 33 cents additional per $1000 of assessment valuation.
School taxes are due by September 30. After that, 1% interest is added until October 31, and then an additional 2% for each additional month until taxes are paid.
The HF-FMCSD is operating on a $$39,995,141 budget for the current school year, which voters approved on May 21.
Taxes can be paid in person at Town Hall, 254 Main St., Highland Falls, where the town’s receiver of taxes, Regina Taylor, has an office. They can also be paid by mail, or online.
