Firefighters respond to Montgomery HazMat incident

A hazardous materials incident in the Village of Montgomery, Thursday, left one person unconscious.

Montgomery Firefighters responded to Pergamena, a boutique leather tannery at 11 Factory Street on Thursday morning at approximately 10:58 a.m. The fire department reported that it has been advised by Orange County 911 services of at least one person unconscious and several others down.

The incident was reportedly contained, and by 3:40 p.m. he location was deemed safe by fire and Haz-Mat personnel. The fire department reported that EMS treated multiple patients and transported them. There was no threat to the outside public.

Services operating on scene along with Montgomery Fire Department were Coldenham Fire Department, Walden Fire Department, Orange County Haz-Mat, O.C. Coordinators 36-15, 36-10, 36-13, 36-09, Village of Montgomery Police, Town of Montgomery Police, New York State Police, Town Of Montgomery EMS, Orange County EMS-1,Town of Wallkill EMS, Town of Newburgh EMS, Mobile Life Support. The incident has been turned over to New York State Police BCI.
