Fire at 428 Liberty Street

On May 6, at about 7:22 p.m, the City of Newburgh Fire Department responded to 428 Liberty St. for a reported building fire.

Upon arrival fire was observed venting out of a third floor window on the front of the building. A second alarm was transmitted. Mutual Aid crews from West Point, Stewart Air National Guard, the City of Beacon, and Cronomer Valley Fire Departments assisted in the response.  

 The Red Cross responded to assist approximately 20 individuals unable to return to their residences. No injuries were sustained, though several pets were recovered. The cause of the fire appears to be electrical in nature.
