Upcoming events at the Highland Public library
Meet Charlotte Brontë, the passionate authoress. Hear the story behind the written words, and learn how she, the middle child of six, survived to share their collected narratives. Visit with Charlotte in 1847, as she reflects on her emotionally-charged experiences as both student and teacher at various boarding schools. Share with her the joy of seeing her deeply personal novel, Jane Eyre, in published form.
This virtual program is available for senior, 55 and over. It takes place on Tues., Sept. 27, 1-2 p.m. Register at highlandlibrary.libcal.com/event/9468063.

Meet and greet artist Pam Krimsky on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
“Nature has always been central to my work,” she says. “I began working abstractly, but quickly wanted to paint from Life, landscape, still-life and self portraits. I was preparing for the multiple figure compositions I really wanted to paint. For many years I studied the Old Masters, particularly Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Delacroix and during that time, the main body of my work was multiple figure compositions from imagination.”

Her works are currently on display at the library.

The Library hosts Baby Storytime on Friday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. We invite you to join us for a special time to bond with your baby and get to know other caregivers. We will explore the joys of learning through movement, books, and songs. So come prepared to sit with your little one on your lap, have fun, laugh, and enjoy time with your baby at the library—best for children who are pre-walkers or crawlers. Babies 6 months – 15 months.

The Ulster County Food Fight is an annual food collection contest held in cooperation with twelve libraries throughout Ulster County from Thursday, September 1 to Friday, October 15.
The “Food Fight” is part of the Great Give Back that is happening on October 15 throughout New York State.
The common goal is to “spread food all over Ulster County” by filling up the shelves of local food pantries and to putting an end to hunger in our communities. The library that collects the highest number of food items during this period wins the Food Fight and receives a winners’ certificate!
Help your library win the Food Fight with your donations of non-perishable (and non-expired) food items for local food pantries. It sounds like a messy fight, but this is a clean competition with other libraries in Ulster County.
Don’t know what to donate? Donate our Food of the Day.
