New Windsor Town Supervisor George Meyers introduced newly elected councilwoman Eve Lincoln, who made her official debut during the New Windsor
Town Council meeting on Wednesday, January 5.
Lincoln is the youngest member to be elected to the town board and follows in the footsteps of her late aunt, former Councilwoman Susan Weyant.
“I am very excited that my term as councilwoman has officially started,” Lincoln said. “I will definitely be the public servant that you will see out in the streets speaking with residents, and families and businesses on what they think, or want or need. My voice is the resident’s voice.”
Councilwoman Sylvia Santiago was appointed by Meyers as Deputy Supervisor for the year 2022. This appointment started January 1, 2022 and will continue until Dec 31, 2022. Santiago said she is “honored to be named Deputy Supervisor for this year.” Santiago appreciates “the opportunity to serve the town however needed.” She greatly appreciates Supervisor Meyer’s confidence in her.
For the town Liaison Officers for the year 2022, Meyers will be the Liaison Officer for the Ambulance Corps and Police Department. Councilman Steve Moreau will be the Liaison Officer for the Highway Department and Planning/Zoning Boards. Lincoln will be the Liaison Officer for the Justice Court and Recreation Department. Councilman Steve Bedetti will be Liaison Officer for the Sewer and Water Department. Santiago will be the Liaison Officer for Senior Citizens and the Newburgh School District.
The town board approved the adoption of a new water consumption rate schedule. The consumption rate will be the amount of $6.70 per 100 cubic feet or $8.96 per thousand gallons. These rates will be effective for the March 1, 2022 billing cycle. The previous rates were $6.50 per 100 cubic feet or $8.69 per 1000 gallons.
The new Ethics Board Disclosure Form that had been sent to the board for review was approved. Several revisions were made after the form was brought forward at the workshop meeting Monday, January 3.
The disclosure form required spouses to provide information as well. Only designated officials and individuals need to fill out the disclosure form. Town Attorney David Zagon and the board worked together to review the form prior to the Wednesday meeting vote.
Anthony Fayo was appointed by the board as the Supervisor of Refuse/Garbage with a set salary of $22,000 for the year 2022. Fayo also serves as the Highway Superintendent for the town.
Kelly Allegra was appointed as Registrar of Vital Statistics. Salary was set at $4,000 for the year 2022. Allegra was also appointed the town’s FOIL Officer for 2022 as well.
Zagon was appointed the town’s FOIL Appeals Officer and was reappointed as the town attorney for the year 2022
For 2022, Jeanmarie Faraone was reappointed First Deputy Town Clerk, a full-time position and Kathy Fogarty was reappointed Second Deputy Town Clerk, a part-time position.
Nancy Wilkins was appointed as Deputy Receiver of Taxes for the town for the year 2022. The stipend for this position was set at $2,500 annually.
John T. Finnegan retained the position of Town Comptroller and Doreen Casey was reappointed Deputy Comptroller for the town.
Police Chief Robert Doss was appointed as the Civil Defense Director for 2022.
Glen Marshall was appointed as Town Historian and along with Fogarty, was appointed to serve on the Records Advisory Board for 2022.
