By Ted Millar, Marlborough Democratic Committee Chair
Early voting for the 2023 election begins October 28. In addition to voting for county executive, district attorney, town board and state supreme court justices, don’t forget to TURN YOUR BALLOT OVER for important state, county and local propositions.
Ulster County-related propositions, if passed, will:
1. Correct the election process for the County Executive if the position is vacated through death, resignation or removal to make the process more transparent and democratic.
2. Extend the Comptroller’s office’s ability to obtain needed records, and redefine the Finance Commissioner’s roles/duties for a better checks-and- balance system overseeing county-related finances.
Two local propositions:
1. To extend the the town of Marlborough supervisor’s term to four years, and
2. Allowing a small increase to the Milton library’s operating budget, accounting for an approximately five-dollar increase in our annual tax bill to continue public programs.
