Donald L. DuBois, Sr. of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was 87.

Donald was the son of the late George and Blanche (Tillinghast) DuBois.  He was born November 17, 1936, in Hackensack, NJ.

Donald started his career in education as a sixth grade teacher in the Newburgh Enlarged School District. He then served as a school principal at Liberty Street School, West Street School, and lastly Gardnertown Fundamental Magnet School. He was instrumental in enlarging Gardnertown School with more classrooms, a new gym, a computer lab, and a beautiful courtyard that was named in his honor. He is fondly remembered for bringing outdoor education to Gardnertown Schools (e.g. cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating). He was pivotal in bringing about a larger interest in hands-on science, along with class trips to Frost Valley where they learned early methods of winter living (e.g. Cutting ice blocks, foraging for berries, and local animal life). He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a Life member of the Newburgh Yacht Club, and a member of the Sigma Lambda Nu Fraternity and the Orange Lake Homeowners Association.

Survivors include, his loving wife of nearly 40 years, JoMarie (Jesse) DuBois; two sons, Donald L. DuBois, Jr., and his wife Karen and Kevin W.
