Crab A Bag Restaurant opens on Liberty Street

Crab A Bag restaurant on Liberty Street recently hosted their soft grand opening to the public. Newburgh’s newest restaurant is owned and managed by Ronnie and Tiffany Maisonet.

Behind the counter, taking orders and running them back to the kitchen was Ronnie and Tiffany’s oldest son Romello Maisonet, a senior in high school. Romello is the oldest of four children.

“Crab A Bag, we’re all about the food. We have Spanish food but we’re mainly focused on seafood,” Romello said.

Seeing his parents start a business together, Romello said he is truly ‘proud of them’. “It’s amazing to see my mom do this, and my dad,” Romello said. “My mom and dad, they make me believe in that I can do whatever I need to, to succeed in life. They motivate me.” Also behind the counter was Jordan Peña who started her first day at Crab A Bag. She has known the Maisonet family for some time and is happy to be a part of this business. “I think opening this place was a really good idea because there’s not a lot of seafood restaurants up here,” Peña said. “There’s only, I think, one or two that may be close by.” Peña has seen customers come in and take pictures, sharing that the opening is going on.

People from Spanish Harlem, Fishkill, and Monroe have all been waiting for Crab A Bag to open, according to Tiffany. For now, she is excited to see all the new faces that walk through the doors of the restaurant and wants everyone to come and try the food. “New customers are becoming now, my family,” Tiffany said. “I’m family oriented. Everything is about family.”
