City police arrest burglary suspect

City of Newburgh Police Commissioner José Gomérez has announced the arrest of 44-year-old City of Newburgh resident Omar Maldonado, the suspected perpetrator of a string of commercial burglaries throughout the City. This arrest is the culmination of a several months long investigation by City of Newburgh PD Detective Division. A search warrant has been executed and evidence related to these cases has been recovered. Maldonado was arraigned and remanded to Orange County Jail. Additional charges are forthcoming.

“Property crimes are serious offenses that take money out of the pockets of our City’s hardworking small business owners.,” Gomérez said. “When I became Commissioner, I made a commitment to our small business owners that we will use all the resources at our disposal to investigate property crimes and vigorously pursue offenders. If you commit a crime in our City, you better be ready to do the time – because we will find you, and we will bring you to justice.”
