Bullville Fire Department welcomes new vehicle

The Bullville Fire Department found a very unique way to cool down on a steamy hot summer day.

On Saturday July 23, the department hosted a “wetdown” where other local fire departments came and sprayed down the new truck in a celebratory fashion. A tradition that several fire departments have, it’s a fun way of introducing a new vehicle to the department. The new truck, known as Squad 257, is a 2021 Ford F450 converted into a Vengeant Surge Model, done by Vengeant Apparatus. The surge model of firetruck, is a perfect utility or mini-rescue vehicle to add to a fleet, and the Bullville Fire Department is ready to put it to use.

“This is sort of like a christening for the new truck, and definitely a celebration for us. We haven’t added a new vehicle to the fleet, or had a wetdown since 2015, so this was long overdue,” said Chief of Bullville Fire, Bill Bacon.

The Bullville Fire crew was selling shirts, mugs, and had food and drinks available for anyone who came. Other fire companies who participated in giving the new truck a good wetdown included Pocatello/Mt. Hope Fire Co, Pine Bush Fire Dept, Coldenham Fire Dept, Walden Fire District, and many more.

A hot Saturday in Bullville was a little bit cooler thanks to the mist from the endless spraying of fire hoses throughout the afternoon.

“It’s definitely worth celebrating. It’s nice to see everyone come out on such a nice day and support the department. It’s worth having a little party,” said Chief Bacon.
