Buffalo woman killed on 17K

On December 14, at approx. 4:20 p.m. the Town of Montgomery Police responded to the scene of a two-car accident on State Rt 17K in the area of Winding Hills.

Police said Brennon Hernandez, 20, of Monroe, fell asleep at the wheel and crossed over a double yellow line, striking another vehicle and causing the death of Eileen A Habesland, 44, of Buffalo. Police said Hernandez remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Police said there were no signs of impairment.

Hernandez was subsequently issued a summons for crossing the double yellow line.

Town of Montgomery Police were assisted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Montgomery Fire Department and the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.
