Kids and adults alike have been captivated by the endless fun of LEGO since the 1930’s. In the present, LEGO is still going strong, releasing countless new sets every year. Collaborations with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman and several other movie franchises, as well as their own original sets, have cemented them in popular culture history.

In the Hudson Valley, LEGO fans now have a place to buy, sell and trade their favorite LEGO® bricks and sets at Brick House Resellers in Highland. Located right along Route 9W in the Bridgeview Plaza, owner Shawn Clark opened the store back in March of 2022, taking his lifelong love of LEGO to the next level.

“I’ve been playing with LEGO since I was a young kid. I never really stopped! I always wanted a room in my house dedicated specifically to building and to display my sets, and I finally got that after all these years. The LEGO room in my house started to overflow, so I bought this store and brought them all here!” said Clark.

Brick House Resellers offers customers what seems like an endless supply of spare bricks, new, used, and discontinued sets, along with a variety of mini figures. Although the main function of the store is retail-based, Clark also hosts birthday parties, along with two clubs that come in and share their recent LEGO® creations.

“It’s great to see kids and adults of all ages come in and work together to create and build. Our two clubs, Teen Fans of LEGO, and Adult Fans of LEGO meet once a month to show off their techniques and completed works. It helps people come together and work together, and creates order out of disorder,” explained Clark.

Creativity and possibilities are endless when constructing with LEGO. Kids can create anything they imagine out of bricks, and even though they’re mostly fun and games,

LEGOS can also be scientifically precise.

Brick House Resellers is also home to STEAM education classes. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. STEAM is an approach to learning that implements critical thinking, and encourages dialogue to solve problems. There are two class levels to choose from. For the younger brick builders, they have the opportunity to be involved in the SPIKE essentials program. For ages 6-9, participants will build models and watch them come to life through the magic of the SPIKE Essentials technology on a computer. For the older kids, 10-12, they have the chance to use the MINDSTORMS EV-3 program.

Children learn the programming language for robotics, build, evaluate their creations and watch them come to life. Each class runs Monday through Friday for 90 minutes each day.

In the short time that Brick House Resellers has been open, their successes continue to build up, along with their patrons.

“Since we opened on March 26th, we’ve turned over 200% in our inventory. We really have something for everyone. Rare sets, vintage sets, new sets, individual pieces, you name it. We’ve had families from as far as Cincinnati come and check out the store. It’s really great to see how LEGO keeps bringing people together after all this time,” said Clark.
