By Ted Millar, Marlborough Democratic Committee Chair, Marlboro
Another year of candidate petitioning is concluded, and the Marlborough Democratic Committee would like to thank the 155 Marlboro and Milton residents who agreed to provide the requisite signatures candidates need to run in November’s general election.
This year we carried petitions for incumbent Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji, NY State Supreme Court judicial delegates, and Marlborough Town Board candidate Maribeth Wooldridge-King. Your signature was not a vote for these individuals; it was permission from you to proceed to the next phase of the electoral process. It’s democracy brought right to your door compliments of the members of the Marlborough Democratic Committee--your neighbors.
Any registered Democrat is eligible to carry petitions. If you are interested in getting involved and helping out with this important endeavor in the future, or looking to get active in other ways, come check us out every first Thursday of each month at 7:00 at the Sarah Hull Hallock library in Milton.
