242 Broadway still waits

The building known as 242 Broadway has seen several periods of work conducted but still requires extensive work to be done prior to completion. As of now, most of the brick exterior facing Broadway has been removed and barriers continue to block off entrance to the beginning of Carpenter Avenue. The building was reported to have been owned by Ben Papaleo. In December of 2021, the building was saved from demolition through a city court ruling.

The project has appeared before the City of Newburgh’s Architectural Review Commission [ARC] several times, starting in April to go over various plans and work for the building.

The last time the project appeared before the ARC was back on June 14 for door installations. No further updates have been provided at this time on the timeline for this particular project.
