Ret. MSG Richard E. Dwyer of Newburgh, a longtime resident of the area, passed away peacefully at home, December 3, 2023. He was 76.
The son of the late Ellsworth and Myrtle Dwyer, he was born September 15, 1947 in Rutland, VT. He was the beloved older brother to Robert, Dorothy and Kathleen.
Richard, lovingly known as “Doc”, retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years in the United States Army, and made Newburgh his home. He worked for more than 20 years for Squires Vending, with his good friends Paul and Ray Jr.
Richard is survived by his wife Maureen, dog Jasper, cat Sameow, all at home; his son Joseph Mulligan (Nicole Clarke), daughter Kelly-Anne (Alex Tremper); grandchildren Mason (Samantha) Tremper, Brodie Patrick Mulligan, Madison Anne Tremper, Bryndelin Faith Mulligan; nieces and nephews Candice Swan, Andrew and Jeffery Dwyer, Amanda (Stephen) and Sophia and Emily Crinieri, Robert (Taryn), Bobby and Jordan Earl, Nicole (Allen) Ella and Gavin Kuppas, Christine (Tim) Milo, James and Anna Hoenig, George (Johanna) Pia and Georgie Earl; and brothers-in-law Robert (Georgette) Earl and George (Joanne) Earl.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday December 8, at the Wallkill Reformed Church, Bridge Street, Wallkill. United States Army Chaplin Ken Sampson will officiate.
