Last week two new businesses are sharing the ground floor at 46 Main Street; Kiki’s Kandles and Unwrinkled, a vintage clothing boutique opened.
The building is owned by Vivian Lanzarone who recently closed her own shop and was open to having new businesses at her location. She still has her long-standing photography business on the second floor.
“It’s kind of turned into three business women helping each other out by all sharing the space and the expenses and hopefully that will make everyone do well,” she said.
Vivian said the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony, “brought tears to my eyes just seeing such great energy and so many people there and I feel that making this decision to share the space with the girls and bringing them, their energy and their people in I feel is a win-win for all of us.”
Krystal Alonge is a full time high school teacher in Newburgh and is co-owner of Kiki’s Kandles. She jumped at Lanzarone’s invitation to set up her candle business at her location.
“I’m a small town girl and have lived in Marlborough my entire life and to be able to open something in my town is amazing,” she said. “We have a lot to offer and we’re slowly growing.”
Kristin Cummings, who is co-owner of Kiki’s Kandles, said when they visited Vivian, “we got into a conversation with her and that’s how it was born. It just happened and was meant to be.”
Cummings said she is grateful for the wonderful turnout.
“We’re blessed and people have been coming in and out all day,” she said.
Cindy Mannese is the owner of Unwrinkled vintage clothing.
“I pick out everything and go to estate sales and anywhere I see vintage clothes,” she said. “I really try to go with higher brand names like Woolrich and LL Bean and I try to buy made in USA.”
Mannese is now retired after working at Car Auctions for 25 years and is enjoying her venture into the vintage clothing world. She has known Vivian because she photographed her wedding 18 years ago; and Krystal and Kristin have known each other for about 20 years.
“We’ve all been friends and we just came together,” she said, adding that, “I am very blessed and so happy about the opening today.”
The shop is open Wednesday from noon to 6pm, Thursday 10a.m. to 8p.m, Friday noon to 6p.m., Saturday 10a.m. to 5p.m. and Sunday from 11a.m. to 5p.m.
