Michael J. DiViesti Jr.

Michael J. DiViesti Jr. passed away on August 4, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. He was 94 years old. Michael was born on March 22, 1929 in Marlboro. He is the son of the late Michael J DiViesti Sr. and Elizabeth DiViesti.

Michael was a carpenter for over 70 years, first working for Pomarico Brothers in Newburgh Then he became a building contractor, working under the business name Mike DiViesti and Sons Construction. Michael went on to build many homes from Marlboro to New Windsor and all in between. He was a veteran of the Unites States Army, reaching the rank of Sergeant serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Grace M. DiViesti of Marlboro, sons Michael J. DiViesti III (wife Jennifer) and Peter L. DiViesti, both of Marlboro. He is also survived by one brother, Augustine DiViesti of Wallkill, and three sisters, Gloria Sullivan, Vicky Colurciello and Rosemarie Santora, as well as four grandchildren, Michael DiViesti IV, Nicholas DiViesti, Amber Mianti and Jaydon Mianti. Michael also had countless nieces and nephews. 

He is predeceased by five brothers, John DiViesti, Anthony DiViesti, Nick DiViesti, Alfred DiViesti and Dominick J. DiViesti as well as five sisters, Theresa Chapman, Elizabeth Boyette, Maggie Feinstein, Stella and Jenny.

Michael was a loving husband and father who always had smile on his face. Despite a few absent times, Michael was a lifelong resident of Marlboro. Michael enjoyed being a craftsmen and building things out of wood. In his spare time, he enjoyed sitting out on his porch observing nature, he also loved watching professional wrestling, his favorite wrestler was Hulk Hogan. Growing up on the DiViesti farm in Marlboro, he was a staple figure in the community liked by everyone. Michael will be missed by all.

A Funeral mass will take place on Wednesday August 9 at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s Church, 1209 Route 9W, Marlboro.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
