Marjorie J. McGuiness, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on October 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 73 years old.

The daughter of the late Louis A. Swing and Dorothea P. (Sprague) Swing, Marjorie was born on April 10, 1951 in Mahopac, NY. Marjorie was predeceased by her brother Paul Swing, sister-in-law Kathy Swing; and brother-in-law John McGuiness.

Marjorie was a retired Cafeteria Worker for the Cornwall Central School District.

A family statement reads: “Mom was a bright and cheery person who loved to make people happy. Her infectious smile and positivity touched everyone she met. She was easy to talk to and never had a bad word to say. She loved her town and taking walks up to the duck pond. She had a love for all animals, especially her cats. She loved all kinds of music; her piano was her prized possession! She loved all plants and flowers and always enjoyed sitting down with a good book. She had an immense love for her family, and her grandchildren were truly her world! She just loved life in general! She will be terribly missed by all that had the honor of knowing her.

Marjorie is survived by her beloved husband: Joseph T. McGuiness; by her sons: Stephen J. McGuiness and his wife Jessica, and their children: Aidan and Grace of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY and Christopher L. McGuiness and his wife Dena, and their children: Kayla and Danny “Mr. D” of New Windsor, NY; her sister: Mary-Lynn Pruitt, and her husband Ralph; her sister-in-law, Helen McGuiness; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30th at Hope United Methodist Church, 198 Main Street, Cornwall, NY. Interment will follow the Service at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
