The Town of Lloyd recently unveiled the new pavilion at the town field, dedicated to the late Lewis C. DiStasi Jr. (1937-2021), who served as town attorney for over 40 years.
The total cost of the project was $485,678.02, including $360,539.35 for the pavilion structure and $125,138.67 for the bathrooms.
Funding for the project included $125,000 secured by New York State Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson and $100,000 from an Ulster County Parks and Recreation grant.
Architect Sean Williams, of Re-craft, was paid $14,275 for designing the pavilion. The construction was carried out by Mike Campbell of the Barn Raiser, the lowest bidder, who received $254,073 for labor and materials. Ken Kucker of Total Stone/Block Work provided the materials and labor for the bathroom construction at a cost of $33,000.
A financial breakdown provided by the town revealed additional funding sources:
• $20,000 from the town’s General Fund (unexpended balance)
• $73,903.21 from the town’s Recreation Reserves
• $77,081.23 from the town’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the pavilion structure
• $89,693.58 from ARPA funds for the bathrooms
This funding totaled $260,678.02, leaving $225,000 covered by the General Fund’s unexpended balance until a grant is secured.
Some plumbing and electrical work remain to be completed on the project.
