Lawrence E. Nelson, of the Town of Newburgh, formerly of Pine Bush, entered into rest on Sunday, October 1, 2023. He was 91.
Son of the late Lawrence E. and Margaret (McRae) Nelson, Sr., he was born on June 13, 1932 in Newark, NJ.
“Larry” as he was known to family and friends, was the owner of Lynco Alarms, Upper Saddle River, NJ. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, where he was trained in electronics. Larry worked on some of the first computer systems and enjoyed anything electronic. He was an avid fisherman with his own boat and made his own fishing rods. He also loved to make pickles, soup and Swedish pancakes.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lynn A. Nelson; two daughters, Diane (Stewart) Sancton of the Town of Newburgh, and Barbara (John DeSanto) Steckler of Longs, SC; a sister, Joanne Morlote of Grifton, NC; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Tara, Kristopher, Nicole, Jessica, Dillon and Trisha; nine great grandchildren, Logan, Shayla, Tyson, Parker, Cora, Teagen, Peyton, Marvens and Isabella.
Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lawrence’s memory can be made to Wounded Warriors at supportwoundedwarriorproject.org.
Arrangements are under the care of White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, Newburgh.
