Julia Jacqueline Dalpe Weed, a wife and mother of four sons, passed away peacefully at her Walker Valley home due to a long illness.

The eldest daughter of Ovide “Jack” Dalpe and Julia May Marques, she was born on October 11, 1940 in Flushing, NY. Julie was a 1958 graduate of  Pine Bush Central High School.

On February 7, 1959, she married Reuben F. Weed.
Julie started her postal career in 1976, was promoted to postmaster of the Walker Valley Post Office in 1985, and retired in 2002.  During her retirement, she volunteered at the People for People Fund and the Ulster County Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Walker Valley Catholic Society and worked the polling places in Ulster County.

Survivors include her children, Jack ( Jill), Daryl (Janet), and Scott (Jeanie). She is also survived by her significant other, Carmine Montella, her grandchildren, John and Kelsey Kober, and her sister, Rita Dalpe, along with many nieces and nephews. Julia was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Reuben F. Weed, her son Kyle M. Weed and her sister Eileen Dalpe.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 12, from 12 - 3 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home Inc. 1525 Burlingham Road, Pine Bush. Funeral services will begin immediately at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the family plot in Walker Valley Cemetery.
