John E. Jardine, beloved husband, father, and Grampy, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on July 31, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. John was born in Kingston, NY, on November 1, 1940, to Michael and Elizabeth (Whalen) Jardine. John was pre-deceased by his brother, Robert.
Although born in Kingston, John spent most of his life in Maybrook. He attended Maybrook schools and was a member of the last class to graduate from Maybrook High School. After high school, John served proudly as a military policeman in the United States Army.
On returning from service, John married his long-time sweetheart, Cecile (Amodio), and they began their 61 years together. John was a loving father to his children John (and Diane), Steve, and Jacki (and Tom), and Grampy to Hannah, Sarah, Emma, Anna, and Kristen. Taking care of his family was his greatest legacy.
John was also especially proud of his long career with Toyota. Starting when Johnstons Toyota was rooted in Maybrook, he ascended the corporate ladder to become the owner of a rewarding business. He supported organizations such as Access: Supports for Living, the Brittany Miller Foundation, the Boy Scouts, the Village of Maybrook, and numerous other local charities. He was a supporting member and contributor to the Church of the Assumption parish and the Maybrook Fire Department.
As per his request, John’s final interment will be handled privately by his family. You may commemorate his life with expressions of sympathy to a local charity of your choice.
