James J. Mallin, born in Brooklyn, NY on February 5, 1941, passed peacefully in his sleep in his Vero Beach, FL home on March 24, 2023.
He was the son of the late Edith Sexton Mallin and John D. Mallin and loving brother to the late Thomas Henry Mallin and John Dennis Mallin.
James graduated from Freeport Long Island High School in 1958. Following high school, he served 4 years in the United States Navy aboard aircraft carrier USS Roosevelt. Following the Navy, he worked as an electrical engineer for Con Edison in Manhattan and retired after 30 years to Goshen, NY in 1997. He was then known as “Goshen Jim who moved to Montgomery”.
He is survived by his adoring children, daughter Kim Mallin Clarke and her husband Robert Clarke, and son John Christopher Mallin and his wife Dianne Mallin. He was a loving grandfather to Kaila Aberasturi Stark and her husband Jeffrey Stark, Matthew Aberasturi and his wife Brittany Troy Aberasturi and Leanna Mallin, as well as great grandchildren Theodore James and Ameila Grace Stark and Maddox James Aberasturi.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2023, 1 - 2:30 p.m., at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union Street, Montgomery, NY 12549.
A service will follow at 2:30 at the funeral home. A celebration of life will continue immediately after.
