Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson [NY 104] recently secured a $10,000 grant for the Marlboro Free Library that will be used to fund Ancestry Library Edition, new e-books and museum passes.

Jacobson said he was pleased to present a check to the Library that will allow them to make additional investments for the community.

“As I’ve said many times, when you give money to a library it’s the biggest bang for your buck because libraries are very efficient, you don’t have a large bureaucracy, you have a lot of volunteers and you really reach people of all ages,” he said. “This library, like others in my district, are expanding into the digital age and realize that the needs of people have changed, and it’s just terrific that we’re doing that.”

Jacobson said this money will provide the library with a three year subscription to Ancestrylibrary.com and e-books and audio books. He said the money will also help pay for museum passes.

“The library purchases these passes from museums and people can rent the passes for a day or a few days and go to these places, such as Boscobel, Dia and the Storm King Art Center.” he said.

Patrons of the Marlboro Library obtain the passes using their library card and then admission for the entire family is free. Passes can also be printed out at home from www.marlborolibrary.org and type in “museum passes” in the search box.
