Highland High School Principal Kevin Murphy has been placed on administrative leave by the Highland School Board following a special executive session on Nov. 20. The board did not disclose the reason for the action.

Murphy, a Poughkeepsie resident, has been with the district since July 2020. He previously served as an assistant principal at Poughkeepsie Middle School and Dover High School. His career in education includes roles as an elementary school teacher, music instructor, and band and choral director at schools in Highland Falls and New York City, spanning all grade levels from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Superintendent Joel Freer did not respond to requests for comment by deadline.
