Habitat for Humanity announces new director

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh has announced the appointment of Jill Marie Rothschild as the newest Executive Director for the organization. Rothschild will be assuming her official executive director duties on October 4.

The announcement of Rothschild comes several weeks following the departure of former executive director, Matthew Arbolino, on July 31. Arbolino served as executive director of Habitat Newburgh for four years and two and a half years, as the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator. Arbolino shared before his departure that he will now be spending more time with his family and supporting Habitat Newburgh from afar.

Rothschild currently serves as the executive director of Jewish Family Service of Orange County and has previously worked at Inspire and Safe Homes of Orange County. Rothschild also serves as an adjunct professor at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she teaches in the Social Justice Studies department.

Paul Brothe, president of the board of directors of Habitat Newburgh, shared the following statement about Rothschild’s announcement. Rothschild was one of several qualified candidates that had interviewed for the position.

“Jill Marie brings many years of non-profit experience serving people in Orange County,” Brothe said. “We have been impressed with her leadership skills and ideas about our mission of providing affordable housing.”

Rothschild also released a statement to commemorate her announcement as the new executive director.

“I am honored to become part of the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh team. The work that the agency does focusing on equity and inclusion for the Black and Latinx communities is aligned in my commitment for social justice,” Rothschild said. “I am enthusiastic to continue their mission and work along side the staff, volunteers, board and donors. I look forward to leading the agency as the new Executive Director.”
